Wet Electrophoretic Transfer

(Protocol summary only for purposes of this preview site)

Wet electrophoretic transfer may be more efficient for transfer of some large-molecular-weight proteins than a semi-dry transfer because of the longer transfer time required without drying up or depleting the buffer capacity of the system. For submerged or wet transfers, no one set of transfer conditions offers complete and even transfer of proteins with good retention on the membrane. The buffer system introduced by Towbin et al. (1979) is the most commonly used and works adequately for the majority of proteins.
