Modifying Antigens by Dinitrophenol Coupling

(Protocol summary only for purposes of this preview site)

Adding dinitrophenol (DNP) groups to antigens is a common method of modifying antigens to make them more immunogenic. This method has been used successfully to modify well-conserved proteins such as actin to raise a strong antibody response. This method is based on Amkraut et al. (1966).
